Why Diverse Teaching Styles Matter in Yoga (and in Life)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of teaching hundreds of classes, holding space on retreats, and watching people arrive in all kinds of seasons… it’s this:
No two people walk into a yoga class carrying the same life.
I’ve had people step into my classes straight from heartbreak. I’ve had exhausted parents come in and whisper before class, “This is the only hour I get to myself.” I’ve watched people walk in shaking with anxiety, unsure if they even belonged in the room. And I’ve welcomed people who come because yoga feels like their one bridge back to themselves.
This is why diversity in teaching isn’t a nice extra. It’s essential. It’s why I built Yoga With Lenka the way I did, intentionally and consciously, from my own lived experience of needing different things at different stages of my life.
When I moved to the UK at 24, alone and overwhelmed, yoga met me in a completely different way than it does now. When I was healing from burnout as a new business owner, it met me differently again. And when I became a teacher, I promised myself one thing: I would never create a space where people had to squeeze themselves into one speed, one style, one way of being.
Our classes in Bedford reflect that promise. They’re real, human, and varied. Just like us.
Some days I need to move. Some days I need to soften. And the people who practise with me feel the same.

A Little More Personal…
Take my Monday Flow and Stretch class, I created that class during a chapter when my mind was fast but my body needed slower, more intentional movement. I needed something grounded and strengthening, yet spacious enough to soften into. That combination rebuilt a part of me I didn’t even realise I had been neglecting. It’s why we explore edges gently. It’s why we pause more. It’s why I remind you that strength and softness can live in the same breath.
Then there’s Cerian’s restorative sessions.
There was a period a few years back when I used to slip quietly into her class after a long day because I couldn’t switch off. And every time, without fail, her gentle voice and grounded energy brought me back to myself. This is what diversity in teaching does. It gives us access to a different kind of medicine.
This is why I handpicked every teacher in our Bedford community with intention. Not because of certificates or aesthetics, but because of their hearts, their truth, their lived experience, and the way they hold space with integrity.
Your Journey Isn’t Supposed to Look Like Anyone Else’s
Maybe today you need a slow flow to calm your nervous system. Maybe you’re craving stillness, and a Yoga Nidra session feels like a full-body reset. Or maybe you’re in a season of growth and feel pulled towards breathwork, sound healing, or one of our soulful rituals.
Whatever it is, I created this community so you never feel like you have to fit into one box.
You get to choose what you need. You get to change your mind. You get to evolve. That’s what yoga and life are really about.
Beyond Postures. Into People. Into Truth.
When you practice in a space that embraces different teaching styles, something opens. Your body finds new possibilities. Your breath deepens.
Your mind softens around old stories. Your practice becomes a mirror for who you are becoming.
So next time you roll out your mat with us, try something new. Choose a class you’ve never tried. Lean into a different rhythm. Let yourself be surprised.
You’re not here to perform.
You’re here to come home.
Which class is your body whispering about?
With love, Lenka 🤍
